Plastic Waste Management Campaign in India

Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) under the Union Ministry of Commerce & Industry is set to launch Plastic Waste Management Campaign. The campaign will be launched under Swachhta Hi Sewa.

What is the objective of Plastic Waste Management Campaign?

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced Plastic Waste Management campaign under Swachhta Hi Sewa. DPIIT plays a two-fold role for the successful implementation of this campaign as mandated by the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation under Ministry of Jal Shakti. DPIIT mandates the use of plastic waste by cement kilns and may be recycled by Diwali

What do you know about Plastic Waste Management Campaign?

1) First, ensure recycling of plastic waste collected on 2nd October in cement kilns

2) Secondly, ensure collection of plastic waste on and around industrial areas all across the country through nationwide shramdaan on 2nd October

DPIT has also requested state governments to sensitize Industrial Parks by focusing on Plastic Waste Management on a sustained and continuous basis.
